For us; immigrants, specially the first generation immigrants, the most important step in the path to become a grownup was to find friend from opposite gender and possibly get married.
For me as an immigrant who came from Esfahan city that was filled with different class of mostly right wing conservatives, coming to USA plant of freedom , changes that happened was overwhelming.
When we just pass student life and become graduated, the first days after graduation is really a relief. No longer, we have to study for exams and no projects to do. But after a while, the reality of life shows itself. There are bills to pay, the money is vital in order to pass even a day. So, specifically in the western world, one of the initial steps, the graduate student needs to take is to shift to professional world. Most of us have gained kind of job experience during our life as a student. The point is to interpret our experiences to show prospective employers that we have the right skills and attributes for the job. One of the main issues which parents are facing is whether or not to teach the first language to their newborn baby. Idealistically, it is crucial to teach first language to our children as immigrants. But it is a long way which may create more issues. In families where both parents share first language it is much easier to teach the new born child his/her first language. But in families where the mother language of the newborn baby is different from the other parent, it may create confusion for the learner (new born baby) in process of learning first language. Also, the role of mother as the sole language teacher is challenging. In these cases, parents talks in the language which both of them are fluent in (English) so there will be fewer chances for the baby to learn the mother language.
